What Is Hot Wheels Boulevard? If you’re a diecast fan who’s looking for a little more detail, the Hot Wheels Boulevard series may be for you!

Ditch the Hot Wheels mainlines with plastic chassis and low detail. Start collecting the heavier metal, higher-detail Boulevard cars.

All of this extra detail and build quality does come at an extra cost, with Boulevards costing £9+ in most shops. For some, this is a price worth paying; for others, maybe not.

Below is everything you need to know about Hot Wheels Boulevard to start collecting confidently.

1. What is the Hot Wheels Boulevard series?

Hot Wheels Boulevard Logo

Hot Wheels Boulevard is a premium series of 1:64 scale cars with metal bodies, metal bases, and rubber Real Riders tires. These cars are highly detailed and built with collectors in mind.

When it was first released, the Boulevard series’s goal was to entice a more mature and serious collecting audience.

2. How is Hot Wheels Boulevard different from mainline Hot Wheels?

The main difference between a Boulevard car and a mainline is the materials used.

Boulevard and other premiums are made with metal bases and rubber real rider wheels. Whereas a standard mainline car has a plastic base and plastic wheels.

Boulevards and premiums also have more in-depth details and better paint.

3. Where can I buy Hot Wheels Boulevard cars? Are Hot Wheels Boulevard Walmart Exclusive?

Boulevards were initially Walmart exclusives in the US and very hard to find.

However, in the UK, there are many places you can find boulevards.

First of all, take a look at our Hot Wheels Boulevard collection. We have several cars available, ranging from the first releases in 2020 to the most recent releases.

Second, check your local Hot Wheels suppliers. I’ve found that B&M, Poundstretchers, Asda, Sainsburys, Smyths and more, will all stock the most recent boulevard cases.

Finally, online auction sites or apps such as eBay, Vinted, and Depop all have a strong Hot Wheels community that sell boulevards.

4. Are Hot Wheels Boulevard cars limited edition?

Hot Wheels Boulevards are released in batches of 5 and have a limited supply. They’re not “limited edition” in the sense of a chase car or super treasure hunt, however, there is a limited number released each time.

They aren’t really rare either. A lot of boulevard cars have become peg warmers over the years.

5. How many cars are in the Hot Wheels Boulevard series?

At the time of writing this, we’re on 120+. Cars are released in waves of 5, and we tend to see 5 new cases a year.

This means there are approximately 25 Boulevard cars released a year.

You can download a checklist and tick off your collection to keep track. (Here is a list of the full boulevard collection)

6. Do Hot Wheels Boulevard cars have better detail?

Yes. the cars have higher detail when compared to mainlines and cheaper Hot Wheels.

7. What scale are Hot Wheels Boulevard cars?

They are made in the standard 1:64 scale, like most Hot Wheels, but have a heavier, more premium feel due to their construction.

8. Are Hot Wheels Boulevard cars good for kids?

They can be used as toys, but they’re best suited for adult collectors due to their limited availability and collector-grade design.

While boulevards are a nice treat, you may find that kids enjoy the cheaper mainlines just as much. Since the mainlines are cheaper, it will save you money, or you can buy more of them, offering more variety.

9. What are Real Riders in Hot Wheels Boulevard?

Real Riders are rubber tires that look and feel more realistic than regular Hot Wheels wheels. They often include tread and replicate actual tire styles.

10. Why are Hot Wheels Boulevard cars more expensive?

The higher price reflects their premium materials, collector appeal, limited production, and intricate detailing.
